How to convert Word to PDF
- Select your .docx file, or drop it onto the box above.
- Pick A4 or Letter pages and normal or narrow margins, and check the preview of the first page.
- Choose Convert to PDF and download the result, which keeps your document’s name.
Your .docx stays on your device
Your browser unzips the .docx, reads its text, lists, tables and images, and lays them out on PDF pages, all on your own computer or phone. A lease or a payslip you convert never passes through Oppermind, and the page forgets it when you close the tab. This page counts visits without cookies unless you’ve turned analytics off, and sets analytics cookies only if you allow them, as our privacy policy explains.
Questions
Is converting Word to PDF here free?
Yes. You don’t sign up or enter a card, and the PDF has no watermark.
Is the Word file sent anywhere?
No. Your browser lays out the PDF pages on your own device, and Oppermind’s servers never receive the .docx.
What’s kept in the PDF?
Text, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, PNG and JPEG images, links, page breaks, alignment, and bold, italic, underline and colour. The text stays selectable.
What gets simplified?
Fonts are swapped for standard PDF fonts, a Times-style serif for body text and a Helvetica-style sans for headings, and text sizes follow the heading level rather than the original. Tables get equal-width columns, and merged table cells are split into separate cells. Columns, text boxes, headers and footers, footnotes and comments aren’t kept, and tracked changes don’t show as changes because the text appears as if they were all accepted. Characters outside Western European alphabets, such as Chinese or Arabic script, can’t be shown. A heavily designed document won’t match Word exactly, so check the preview first.
Can I convert a .doc or password-protected file?
No. Open it in Word or another word processor, save a .docx copy without a password, and convert that copy.
