How to convert a PDF to Word
- Drop the PDF you want in Word onto the box above, or choose Select a PDF.
- Choose Convert to Word. The pages are read one at a time, so a long file takes a little while.
- Download the .docx file and open it in Word or any app that reads .docx files.
The converter reads where each piece of text sits on the page, puts lines back together, starts a new paragraph where there’s a gap, and marks text that’s clearly bigger than the rest as a heading. That suits simple single-column documents such as letters, reports and contracts. A brochure, a two-column layout or a spreadsheet saved as a PDF will need more tidying.

Your files stay on your device
Your browser pulls the text out of the PDF and writes the .docx on your own computer or phone. Oppermind never receives either file, so the CV or lease you’re reworking in Word stays on your machine. What comes across into Word?
The text, split into paragraphs, with larger text turned into headings and each PDF page starting on a new page. Layout, columns, tables, images, fonts, bold and italic, and links don’t come across, so expect to redo the formatting. Text set in columns or tables can come out mixed together, so check it against the PDF.
Why is a page empty in my Word file?
That page has no text layer. It’s usually blank or a scan, which is a picture of a page with nothing to copy. The Word file has a short note in its place, and the download screen lists these pages, or counts them when there are more than eight. OCR in a free Oppermind account can read scanned pages.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the PDF and writes the Word file on your own device. Oppermind’s servers never receive it.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Not here. Open it with the password, save a copy without one, then convert that copy.
Is it free?
Yes. It needs no account or card, and the Word document comes without a watermark.
