What each lesson covers
Turn Lato on from the account menu or Desktop settings, then find it when the Oppermind window is not in front.
Lato on the desktop is part of Oppermind Desktop on Windows; the website does not have it. Show Lato on desktop in your account menu turns it on, and the same switch is in Desktop settings under Desktop buddy as Show Lato on the desktop. Lato is a small floating window that stays above your other windows. By default it hides while the Oppermind window is in front (Hide while Oppermind is in front), so switch to another app to see it. A small label shows what it is doing, such as Working, Done or Needs you. Hover over Lato for buttons including New chat, Open Oppermind and More, which holds Desktop settings and Hide Lato. The floating Lato is left out of the screenshots taken while Lato controls your PC, so it does not cover what Lato needs to see.
Practice. Open your account menu in Oppermind Desktop and choose Show Lato on desktop. Switch to another app, find Lato, and hover over it to see its buttons.
Account menu, Show Lato on desktop. Then switch to your email or browser and hover over Lato.
Click Lato for a small chat window with the latest reply, the full message box and Open in Oppermind.
Click Lato to open the quick chat: a small window with the chat title, the latest reply and room for a follow-up. Its message box is the same one as in the full app, with the same + menu, chips and send button. Open in Oppermind takes the conversation into the full window, Close or Esc puts the quick chat away, and the Conversations button lists your chats, workers and teams. Clicking Lato picks up the quick chat you used in the last 30 minutes; New chat on the hover bar starts a fresh one. When a worker or team finishes or needs you, an Updates bell appears on the hover bar with what needs you and what finished today.
Practice. Click Lato and ask a short question you would normally open the full app for. Send one follow-up, then choose Open in Oppermind to see the same chat in the full window.
Click Lato, then type: Rewrite this so it fits in one text message: the delivery is running two days late because the supplier's truck broke down, and we'll confirm a new time tomorrow morning.
Use Show on desktop to keep up to six as widgets, click one to talk to just that one, and tuck it against the screen edge.
While Lato is shown, Show on desktop puts a chat, worker or team on the desktop as its own small widget. It is in the sidebar row's right-click menu, as an icon when you hover over the row, and as a button in the chat, worker or team header. Each widget shows the same status as its sidebar row. Click it to talk to just that one in the quick chat; for a strict worker, that is its chat and approvals. Hover over a widget for Open quick chat (Talk to this worker on a strict worker), Open in Oppermind and Hide from desktop. You can keep up to six. Drag Lato or a widget to the left or right edge of the screen and it tucks away as a tab that peeks out when you hover; drag it away from the edge to bring it back. Hiding Lato hides the widgets too, and they return when you show Lato again.
Practice. Right-click a team or worker you check every day and choose Show on desktop. Click its widget to ask it something, then drag it to the right edge of the screen and hover to bring it back out.
Right-click Launch team in the sidebar, choose Show on desktop, then click its widget and type: @everyone One line each: where are we?
Make the learning stick
Open Oppermind beside the lesson, apply each step, and leave with something you can use.
