Create and edit
Share and collaborate
Share saved items by email, edit documents, sheets, decks, designs and projects live with the people you invite, and open what others share with you.

Save the item first
You can share only an item saved to your account. If you click Share on something that hasn't been saved yet, a message asks you to save it first.
Share by email
Share is the icon at the right end of the editor's toolbar. In the dialog, type an address in Add people by email, pick Can view or Can edit, then click Share or press Enter. The person joins the list below with their access level. Click Done when you have finished.
Choose view or edit access
Can view lets someone open the item and watch changes arrive, but not change it. Can edit lets them change it with you. Only the owner decides who has access, so the people you invite can't add anyone else at either level.
The invite email
When you add someone who isn't already on the list, Oppermind emails them. The email names you and the item, says if they can only view it or can also edit it, and has an Open in Oppermind button. After each share, a message tells you if the email went.
People without an account yet
An address with no Oppermind account shows as pending in the list. That person still gets the invite email, and the item appears for them once they sign up with the same address.
Open something shared with you
On a computer, click Shared with me in the sidebar. Each row shows the type of item, its name, who shared it, when, and your access. Click a row to open a conversation in chat or a file in its editor. The Open in Oppermind button in an invite email goes to the Oppermind sign-in page, on a computer or a phone. Sign in with the address the invite was sent to and the item opens from Shared with me.
Shared with me on your phone
Open the sidebar and tap Shared with me. Documents, spreadsheets, presentations, designs, projects and PDFs open full screen, and all of them except PDFs update live with everyone else. Rows for other types say Open on a computer and don't open on the phone.
Edit together live
Live editing works in Document, Sheet, Slide, Design and Project. Once an item is shared, anyone who opens it joins the same live session, and changes travel both ways as people work. The first time you click Share on one of these items, a message says live editing is on. With Can edit, a message confirms that your changes are shared as you make them. With Can view, a notice under the toolbar says the item is view only, and you can read along but not type.
See who else is there
The Share button shows the live state. A green dot means the item is live, a yellow dot means you are following it view only, and a blue number counts the other people who have it open. Hover over Share to read their names, for example Share - live with Tom Nguyen. In a document, each person's cursor carries their name, and in Slide a coloured dot beside a slide number shows which slide someone is on.
What is not shared live
In Sheet, charts and frozen rows or columns are not shared live. In Design, only the page on screen is shared, so work on a multi-page design one page at a time. PDFs and conversations have no live editing.
If live editing can't connect
A message tells you when live editing can't start. Your own items still save as usual. For an item someone shared with you, your changes can't be saved while live editing is disconnected, so close the item and open it again to retry.
Share from your phone
Open one of your own saved documents, spreadsheets, presentations, designs or projects and tap Share / Collaborate at the end of the editor toolbar. That turns on live editing and opens the share sheet. Type an address under Email, pick Can view or Can edit under Access, and tap Share. People with access lists everyone, with Remove beside each person.
Change or remove access
Open Share on the item again to see who has access. To change someone's level, share with their address again and pick the other level. To remove someone, click the × beside their name, or tap Remove on the phone. Only the owner can see this list.
Share a PDF
Click Share on the PDF's toolbar on a computer, the same way as for any other item. People with Can view can open and download it, and people with Can edit can also save annotations to it. PDFs aren't live, so annotations someone else saves show up when you open the PDF again.
Comments in a document
In Document, select some text, click Comment on the toolbar, type your note and click Add. To see them all, open More and choose Comments under View. Each comment shows who wrote it and when, and anyone who can edit the document can reply, resolve or delete it. Comments are saved in the document, so everyone who opens it sees them.
Copy a document link
Share link, under Files & Export in a document's More menu, copies a link to the document. It is not a public link. It opens only for you and for people you have already shared the document with, after they sign in, and anyone else is told the item isn't shared with their account.
Keep a version before big changes
Document, Sheet and Slide each have Version history in the More menu under Files & Export. Click Snapshot now to save the current state as a version. Saving doesn't add versions, so take a snapshot before several people start editing. Restore puts a version back after you confirm.
Share a conversation
On a computer, right-click a conversation in the sidebar and choose Share. The same share dialog opens. The person you share with finds the conversation under Shared with me, and it opens in chat. On the phone, conversation rows in Shared with me say Open on a computer.
Who can share and what
Sharing by email depends on your plan. If yours doesn't include it, the Share dialog says so in place of the form. Anyone with an Oppermind account can open what others share with them. This page covers documents, spreadsheets, presentations, designs, projects, PDFs and conversations. Some other editors also show Share, but their items have no live editing and say Open on a computer on a phone. Notes can't be shared.
